Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions:
  • 1. What is the difference between papers?
    Paper Description
Photographic Papers Photographic papers are what you are probably used to seeing photos printed on. This paper is available in a lustre finish (slight shine), matte finish (no shine), and glossy finish (a lot of shine). Photographic paper is printed on printers specially calibrated to produce accurate colors and high quality. This paper is best for large quantities, framed portraits, headshots, etc. Mounting is available for photographic papers.
Press Papers Press papers are cardstocks and textstocks. These papers are generally what we use to print greeting cards, booklets, fliers, etc. Press papers are avialable in select sizes for photo printing as well. While we strive to get as close as possible, photos printed on press papers are generally not as accurate if you are trying to color match images.
Fine Art Papers & Canvas Fine art papers include Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, Enhanced Matte, and Textured Fine Art. These papers can be used to print any kind of image and are often used for things like art copies. Canvas is a cotton/poly blend material that is available in a matte or satin (semi-gloss) finish. Canvas is often used for portraits, head shots, wedding photos, etc. Mounting is available for both fine art prints and canvas.
